Flies

In the past, most Shetland anglers concentrated on traditional wet fly patterns when fishing for brown trout. Many of these traditional flies are still widely used, but they have been supplemented by a variety of other patterns.

It would be impossible to give a comprehensive list of worthwhile flies for Shetland lochs, but below you will find a small selection of patterns that have proved successful over the years.
